The building permits indicators measure the quarterly evolution in the number of dwellings used for residential purposes, square metres of residential useful floor area and square metres of non-residential area using the Classification of types of Construction (CC).
During the first half of 2016, the residential building permits indicators show different trends: the number of dwellings decreased compared with the same period of the previous year (-1.1%) while useful floor area increased by 4.0%. On the other hand non-residential buildings decreased by 8.3% compared with the same period of 2015.
The number of dwellings in new buildings decreased by 6.2% in the first quarter and it increased by 4.0% in the second quarter in comparison with, respectively, the first and the second quarter 2015.
The useful floor area declined by 1.3% in the first quarter and increased by 9.1% in the second quarter compared with the same periods of
2015.
Non-residential area decreased by 9.2% in the first quarter of 2016 and by 7.5% in the second quarter with respect to the first and the second quarter 2015.
