In August 2021 the number of both employed and unemployed persons decreased, while a growth was recorded for inactive people. <\/p>\n
On a monthly basis, the decline of employment (-0.3%, -80 thousand) involved more women than men, and was widespread in all age classes. Overall, the employment rate dropped to 58.1% (-0.2 p.p.).<\/p>\n
In the last month, the slight decline of unemployed people (-0.2%, -4 thousand) concerned only men, people aged 15-24 and over50. The unemployment rate was stable (at 9.3%) as well as the youth rate (at 27.3%).<\/p>\n
In August the increase of inactive people aged 15-64 (+0.5%, +64 thousand) concerned mainly women. The inactivity rate went up to 35.8% (+0.2 p.p.).<\/p>\n
In the period June-Agust 2021, with respect to the previous quarter (March-May), the employment rose (+1.1%, +241 thousand) for both genders.<\/p>\n
In the last three months, a drop was registered both for unemployed persons (-6.5%, -163 thousand) and for inactive people aged 15-64 years (-1.0%, -135 thousand).<\/p>\n
Compared with August 2020, the number of employed persons increased by 0.7% (+162 thousand), the growth concerning both genders and all age classes with the exception of people aged 35-49 years; the employment rate showed an increase of 0.8 p.p. .<\/p>\n
On a yearly basis, the rise of employed people was accompanied by a decrease of both unemployed persons (-7.2%, -180 thousand) and inactive people aged 15-64 (-1.7%, -230 thousand).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
