In October 2020, employment slightly decreased, while unemployment grew and inactivity dropped. <\/p>\n
On a monthly basis, the slight decline of employment (-13 thousand) was the result of a growth among women and people aged 25-34 on one side, and of a decrease for men and for other age classes on the other. Overall, the employment rate remained stable at 58.0%.<\/p>\n
In the last month, the growth of unemployed people (+0.4%, +11 thousand) involved only men (+2.2%, +28 thousand), whereas among women a drop was recorded (-1.5%, -17 thousand). The unemployment rate was unchanged at 9.8% while the youth rate rose to 30.3% (+0.6 p.p.).<\/p>\n
In October the slight decline of inactive people aged 15-64 (-0.2%, -26 thousand) was the effect of a decrease for women ( 0.3%, -28 thousand) and of a substantial steadiness among men. The inactivity rate remained stable at 35.5%.<\/p>\n
In the period August-October 2020, with respect to the previous quarter, employment grew (+0.5%, +115 thousand) for both genders.<\/p>\n
In the last three months, a growth was registered in the number of unemployed persons (+5.1%, +120 thousand), while inactive people aged 15-64 years dropped (-2.1%, -289 thousand).<\/p>\n
Compared to October 2019, employment showed a decrease in terms of figures (-2.0%, -473 thousand) and rate (-1.0 percentage points).<\/p>\n
On a yearly basis, the drop of employed people was accompanied by a rise of both unemployed persons (+1.7%, +43 thousand) and inactive people aged 15-64 (+1.9%, +257 thousand).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
