In September 2020 estimates for value of seasonally adjusted index of retail trade decreased by 0.8% when compared with August. Likewise, volume of sales fell by 0.4% in the month on month series.<\/p>\n
In the 3rd Quarter of 2020, the value of sales was up 13.9% when compared with the previous quarter, while volume rose by 13.7% in the same period. This is the highest quarterly growth as sales recovered from record-low levels reported during lockdown.<\/p>\n
Compared with September 2019, value of sales grew by 1.3% and volume increased by 1.5%.<\/p>\n
In September 2020, large-scale distribution was up 1.4% year on year, this is the second consecutive rise after lockdown, while small-scale distribution continued to decrease, contracting by 0.3%. Non-store retail sales fell by 7.0%.<\/p>\n
Online sales continued to soar in the year on year series, increasing by 24.9%.<\/p>\n
Looking at the value of sales for non-food products, there was a mixed picture across the different categories. The largest growths were reported, just like in August, for Computers and telecommunications equipment (+10.6%) and Tools (+7.2%). The largest falls were seen in Shoes, leather goods and travel items (-8.7%), Sporting equipment, games and toys (-7.2%) and Stationary, books, newspapers and magazines (-7.1%).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
