It aims to provide estimate of incidence and prevalence, particularly for intimate partner violence. The data file refers to the second wave of the Survey performed in 2015. The survey collect and provide information about:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"lista\">\n<li>Wideness and characteristics of the violence against women within and out the family, the number of events and their description;<\/li>\n<li>the period when the violence took place, for example during life or in the last 12 months;<\/li>\n<li>victims characteristics, victims reactions, physical, psychological and economic consequences of violence;<\/li>\n<li>perpetrators characteristics, with focus on the authors when they are intimate partners;<\/li>\n<li>incidence of dark number of violence, how many events have been reported to the police, reason why not reported;<\/li>\n<li>characteristics of the violence event, the story of the relationship between the victim and the perpetrator when he is an intimate partner;<\/li>\n<li>violence suffered before 16teen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Starting from these data it can be estimated:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"lista\">\n<li>violence risk factors and protective factors<\/li>\n<li>social cost of violence, both for the woman and her children, in term of ordinary activities lost due to violence, of social and health cares, direct costs as medical care, lawyers, material damages etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the second wave of the survey, for the first time, a sample design with mixed technique has been applied in order to collect information from foreign women and providing estimates for selected citizenship. The results are to be widely disseminated also among migrant women. Istat carried out the survey in 2014, on a sample of 24,000 women aged 16-70. Estimates indicate the most affected foreign women for citizenship: Romania, Ukraine, Albania, Morocco, Moldavia, China.\nMore specifically, according to the second Istat survey, 6,788,000 women have been victims of some forms of violence, either physical or sexual, during their life, that is 31.5% of women aged 16-70. 20.2% has been victim of physical violence; 21% of sexual violence and 5.4% of the most serious forms of sexual violence such as rape and attempted rape: 652,000 women have been victims of rape; and 746,000 have been victims of attempted rape. Further, foreign women are victims of sexual or physical violence on a scale similar to Italian women\u2019s: 31.3% and 31.5%, respectively.
