As a consequence, the inflationary gap between Services and Goods was positive (the first time after six months) and equal to +0.5 percentage points (-0.1 percentage points in December 2018).<\/p>\n
Prices of Grocery and unprocessed food increased by 0.8% on monthly basis and by 0.5% on annual basis (from +0.7% in the previous month).<\/p>\n
In January 2019, according to preliminary estimates, the Italian harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) decreased by 1.7% compared with the previous month, mainly due to the winter sales of Clothing and footwear (-21.2% compared with December 2018), which are not taken into account in the national index NIC.
