The survey is based on a sample of secondary schools with at least 5 foreign pupils. Schools were extracted on the basis of the data provided by the MIUR students’ registry on the basis of the provisional data referring to December 2014 (for Aosta, the reference data was that of the academic year 2012/2013). Since the main objective was the study of the integration of migrant background people, for a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon it was necessary to involve also a control group of students with Italian citizenship. The survey investigated many different dimensions of second generation social inclusion: migration history (if migrant), knowledge and use of Italian language (for foreigners), school, relationship, household conditions.

The students has been invited to self-fill in the electronic questionnaire at school, during the lesson time, in a computer lab, assisted by a municipal expert. There were 821 municipalities involved in the survey: over 1,400 schools throughout the country responded to the survey, for a total of 68,127 young people interviewed, of whom 36,440 italian and 31,687 foreign.

#

Microdata from the survey on the impact of Covid-19 on the daily lives of children and young people are available

[4097
3269,3237,3512,3260,3495,3403,3755,3369,3391

4062,4040
post-22873","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-microdata","tag-education","tag-foreigners","tag-immigrants","tag-inclusion","tag-labour","tag-leisure-time","tag-public-use-micro-stat-files","tag-school-2","tag-students","tema-education-and-training","tema-population-and-households
Public use micro.stat files available on “Children and young people: behavior, attitudes, and future projects"
In 2021 ISTAT carried out the survey “Children and young people: behavior, attitudes, and future projects” with the support of the Ministry of Education.
The general aim of the research was to collect information about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the daily lives of children and young people, in order to highlight the vulnerabilities and strengths of the country’s youngest citizens.
