The building permits indicators measure the quarterly evolution in the number of dwellings used for residential purposes, square metres of residential useful floor area and square metres of non-residential area using the Classification of types of Construction (CC).<\/p>\n
During the second half of 2016, the residential construction units increased compared with the same period of the previous year (+10.6% in the number of dwellings and +11.0% in useful floor area). Instead non-residential buildings decreased by 0.7% compared with the same period of 2015.<\/p>\n
The number of dwellings in new buildings increased by 3.3% in the third quarter and by 18.1% in the fourth quarter with respect to third and fourth quarter 2015.<\/p>\n
The useful floor area increased as well: by 3.2% in the third quarter and by 18.9% in the fourth quarter compared with the same periods of 2015.<\/p>\n
Non-residential area increased by 1.7% in the third quarter of 2016 and
