In order to improve the timeliness of statistical information on the Italian labour market and in accordance with the agreements made within the European Union, Istat publishes monthly estimates of the main labour market indicators resulting from the \u201cLabour force survey\u201d.<\/p>\n
In December 2016, 22.783 million persons were employed, unchanged with November. Unemployed were 3.103 million, +0.3% over the previous month.<\/p>\n
Employment rate was 57.3%, unemployment rate was 12.0% and inactivity rate was 34.8%, all unchanged over the previous month.<\/p>\n
