The Consumer Price Index measures the change in prices over time of a set of goods and
\nservices (CPI basket) representative of Italian household consumption.<\/p>\n
In December 2011:<\/p>\n
\u2022 the National Consumer Price Index for the whole nation CPI (see Italian NIC) \u2013 used to
\nmeasure inflation over the entire Italian economic system \u2013 rose by 0.4% to the previous
\nmonth and by 3.3% in comparison to the same month of the previous year;<\/p>\n
\u2022 the EU Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices HICP (see Italian IPCA) \u2013 developed to
\nfacilitate the comparison of inflation between Member States \u2013 rose by 0.3% compared to
