The Consumer Price Index measures the change in prices over time of a set of goods and services (CPI basket) representative of Italian household consumption.<\/p>\n
Istat estimates that in May 2011:<\/p>\n
\u2022 the National Consumer Price Index for the whole nation CPI (see Italian NIC) \u2013 used to measure inflation over the entire Italian economic system \u2013 rose by 0.1 compared to the previous month and by 2.6% in comparison to the same month of the previous year;<\/p>\n
\u2022 the EU Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices HICP (see Italian IPCA) \u2013 developed to facilitate the comparison of inflation between Member States \u2013 rose by 0.2% compared to the previous month and by 3.0% in comparison to the same month of the previous year. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
