The data are extrapolated from the registry office records of the 8,094 Italian municipalities as of 31 December 2010. The level\u00a0of detail is regional and focuses on the large municipalities (those with over 250,000 inhabitants).<\/p>\n
At the web address http:\/\/demo.istat.it<\/a><\/strong> data are available at a municipal level.<\/p>\n As of 31 December 2010 the total resident population of Italy was 60,626,442, with an increase of 286,114 (+0.5%) due exclusively to migration from abroad.
