The industrial turnover index measures the monthly evolution of sales by industrial enterprises at current prices. The new orders index is an indicator of the value of future deliveries of products (and services directly linked to these products) to be provided by industrial producers. Since January 2009 the indices are calculated with reference to the base year 2005 using the new Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of Nace Rev. 2).<\/p>\n
In March 2011 the seasonally adjusted turnover index increased by 2.0% with respect to the previous month (+1.8% in domestic market and +2.3% in non-domestic market). The percentage change of the average of the last three months compared to the previous three months was +3.0 (+3.2 in domestic market and +2.1 in non-domestic one).<\/p>\n
In March 2011 the seasonally adjusted industrial new orders index increased by 8.1% with respect to February 2011 (+3.7% in domestic market and +15.5% in non-domestic market). The percentage change of the average of the last three months compared to the previous three months was +6.3 (+4.1 in domestic market and +10.1 in non-domestic one).<\/p>\n
With respect to the same month of the previous year the calendar adjusted industrial turnover index rose by 12.2% (calendar working days being 22, one less than in March 2010).
\nIn March 2011 the unadjusted industrial new orders index increased by 21.2 per cent with respect to the same month of the previous year.<\/p>\n
