Istat presents preliminary data on Italy\u2019s foreign trade with non-EU countries in March 2011. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in March 2011 will be disseminated on coming 16 May.<\/p>\n
In March 2011, exports to non-EU countries increased by 16.5% and imports by 24.2% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a deficit of 2,871 million euro (Table 1) compared with a 1,542 million euro deficit in the same month of 2010.<\/p>\n
In March 2011, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports increased by 1.5% and imports by 3.5% compared with February 2011. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 7.4% increase in outgoing flows and a 7.0% increase in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.<\/p>\n
In the period January-March 2011 exports to non-EU countries increased by 23.0% and imports by 31.4% compared with the same period of 2010. The trade balance registered a deficit of 11,389 million euro compared to the deficit of 6,720 million euro in the same period of 2010. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 4,036 million euro (Table 3) compared with a 5,890 million euro surplus in January- March 2010.<\/p>\n
