The survey measures the evolution of the tourist flow in Italian hotels (arrivals and nights spent by residents and non residents); data are disseminated in percentage changes on the same period of the previous year and not in absolute values. The survey on occupancy in hotels is carried out three times a year: Christmas-Epiphany period, Easter period and mid-August week.<\/p>\n
In the Christmas-Epiphany period (the reference period was from 23 December 2010 to 6 January 2011), arrivals in Italian hotels increased by 8.7 per cent and the number of nights spent by 6.5 per cent, compared with the same period of the previous year. Concerning the residents\u2019 component, arrivals increased by 9.2 per cent and nights spent by 7.7 per cent. The arrivals of non residents increased by 7.1 per cent and the nights spent in hotels by 3.7 per cent.<\/p>\n
