In the first quarter of 2026,the seasonally and calendar adjusted chained volume measure of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 0.2% compared with the previous quarter and by 1.0% compared with the second quarter of 2025. Today\u2019s estimates therefore confirm the preliminary figures released on 30 July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second quarter of 2026 had the same number of working days as the previous quarter and one more working day than the second quarter of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The carry-over growth for 2026, net of calendar effects, is confirmed at 0.8%. Please note that 2026 has three more working days than the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Compared with the previous quarter, all the main components of domestic demand recorded positive changes: final final consumption expenditure and gross fixed capital formation increasing by 0.3%, imports and exports rose by 1.7% and 0.8%, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Domestic demand net of changes in inventories contributed 0.3 percentage points to GDP growth. Changes in inventories also made a positive contribution to GDP growth (+0.2 percentage points), whereas net external demand made a negative contribution of 0.3 percentage points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the supply side, quarter-on-quarter declines were recorded in the gross value added of agriculture (-0.2%) and industry (-0.5%), more than offset by the positive performance of services, which grew by 0.4% overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
