Equitable and sustainable well-being measures at local level (BesT from the Italian wording) is the project that Istat launched in 2011 to build and regularly update a set of indicators at small-region level (Nuts3) consistent and integrated with the BES indicators at national and regional level (Nuts2). These indicators can also orient local policy making and social reporting of Local Authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BesT indicator set, released for the first time in 2018, consolidates and develops the results of two design studies: Provinces\u2019 Bes and UrBes projects. Between 2011 and 2016, Istat carried out these projects in collaboration with the Union of Italian Provinces (Upi) and with the National Association of Italian Municipalities (Anci), with the participation of the associations of the statistical offices of Municipalities, Provinces and Metropolitan Cities (Usci and Cuspi).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
