{"id":15086,"date":"2024-02-19T10:27:30","date_gmt":"2024-02-19T09:27:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.istat.it\/?page_id=15086"},"modified":"2024-05-16T15:36:27","modified_gmt":"2024-05-16T13:36:27","slug":"the-measurement-of-well-being","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.istat.it\/en\/statistical-themes\/focus\/well-being-and-sustainability\/the-measurement-of-well-being\/","title":{"rendered":"The measurement of well being"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Istat, together with representatives of the third sector and civil society, has developed a multidimensional approach to measure \u201cequitable and sustainable well-being\u201d (Bes), in order to complement the indicators related to production and economic activity with measures of the key dimensions of well-being, together with measures of inequality and sustainability.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.istat.it\/it\/files\/\/2018\/04\/12-domains-scientific-commission.pdf\">12 domains<\/a>&nbsp;were identified to describe well-being in Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The detailed analysis of indicators published annually in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.istat.it\/en\/statistiche-per-temi-eng\/focus\/well-being-and-sustainability\/the-measurement-of-well-being\/bes-report\/\">Bes Report<\/a>\u00a0as from 2013 aims at raising awareness of the Country\u2019s strengths and difficulties. To improve the quality of life of citizens the concept of well-being should be considered as starting point for public policies and individual choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2016, the \u201cEquitable and sustainable well-being\u201d has become part of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.istat.it\/en\/statistiche-per-temi-eng\/focus\/well-being-and-sustainability\/the-measurement-of-well-being\/bes-in-the-economic-and-financial-document\/\">economic planning<\/a>: the Economic and Financial Document (Def) has to include an analysis of recent trends for selected indicators and an impact assessment of proposed policies.
