Services Producer Price Indices (SPPIs) or Output Price Indices for Services measure quarterly changes in the prices received for services provided by enterprises to other enterprises and Government. This means the SPPIs cover what are commonly known as business to business transactions, thus leaving out sales to consumers. The indices are chained based, their reference base year is 2006=100 and are calculated according to Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of Nace Rev. 2).

In quarter  III 2012 the producer price index in the sector of Postal and courier activities fell by 1.6% compared with the previous quarter and by 0.7% compared with the same quarter of 2011.

In quarter  III 2012 the index of Telecommunications had no change compared with the previous quarter (-0.6% for wired telecommunications activities and +1.1% for wireless telecommunications activities) and decreased by 5.1% compared with the same quarter of the previous year (-3.3% for wired telecommunications activities and -9.1% for the wireless ones).

Reference period: III quarter 2012

Date of Issue: 19 December 2012
