In the second quarter of 2018, notary agrements regarding sales of real estate units and any other kind of exchange of properties and appurtenances in return for payment rose by 1.6% compared with the previous quarter (+1.7 the residential sector; +0.7 the economic sector).
With regard to transfers of properties dedicated to all kinds of use, the growth mainly regarded North-West (+3.0%), North-East (+2.7%) and to a lesser extent the Centre (+0.4%), compared with the previous quarter. Transactions were unchanged in the South (0.0%) while decreased in the Islands (-1.3%). The residential sector followed the general trend. Real estate units for business use registered a growth in North-West (+6.9%) and in North-East (+0.6%), while decreased in the Centre (-6.5%), in the Islands (-3.0%) and in the South (-1.5%).
Mortgage-secured loans stipulated in the second quarter of 2018 (113,755) increased by 2.7% compared with the previous quarter and by +2.3% compared with the second quarter of 2017.
With the exception of the Islands (-2,3%), mortgage-secured loans registered a short-term growth in all geographical areas (North-East +4.2%; North-West +3.2%; Centre +2.4%; South +1.7%). Year-on-year trend was negative only in the Centre (-0.9%), while a positive growth was registered in the North-East (+5.9%), in the Islands (+4.6%), in the North-West (+2.1%) and in the South (+0.6%). As regards the types of municipality, mortage-secured loans grew both in metropolitan cities (+1.9%) and in small municipalities (+2.5%).
