Turnover in services

The Services Turnover Index measures the quarterly change recorded in sales at current prices by enterprises belonging to the domain of services. Starting from the first quarter of  2013 the indices are calculated with reference to the base year 2010 using the Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of Nace Rev. 2).

In the first quarter of 2013 the Services Turnover Index decreases by 5.3%.

Compared to the first quarter of 2012 a decrease is recorded in all sectors:  Wholesale trade, trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (-6.3%), Information and communication services (-6.2%), Accomodation and food service activities (-4.5%), Transport and Warehousing activities (-0.5%). Within the above sectors a slight increase is recorded only in Land transport (+0.5%), Water transport (+0.8%) and ICT services (+0.8%).

In the first quarter of 2013 the seasonally adjusted index increases in Water transport (+0.2%) and in Postal and courier activities (+0.4%) compared with the previous quarter. A decrease is recorded in all other sectors:  Maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (-3.6%), Air transport (-2.3%), Wholesale trade (-2.2%), Information and communication services (-1.8%).
