Nasce il data warehouse sulla coesione sociale

The new data warehouse of official statistics on the subject of social cohesion

The National Social Security Institute (INPS) along with the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy present CoesioneSociale.Stat; the new data warehouse - available at http://dati.coesione-sociale.it - contains over 300 indicators - mostly broken down at regional level - produced by Italian official statistics on the issue of social cohesion.

Sponsored by the National Statistical System, it is an integrated tool that collects data from multiple sources, thus meeting the growing demand for solid and detailed quantitative information; it supports policy-making on urgent issues such as labour, human capital, work/family reconciliation, health, welfare and security, poverty and social exclusion in our country.

The information is organised in three sections:

  • Socio-economic section, offering an informative picture of socio-demographic and economic life and labour market;
  • Family and social cohesion section, collecting data on human capital, work/family reconciliation, health, poverty and social exclusion;
  • Expenditure and interventions on social cohesion, with data on General Government social spending, social protection, active and passive labour market policies, local authorities social services.

The contents are updated periodically, as information is made available by INPS, Istat and the Ministry of Labour.

CoesioneSociale.Stat is based on OECD.Stat technology, a software platform integrated with statistical services developed by the OECD and already adopted by Istat in December 2010 in the corporate data warehouse I.Stat.

Access to the system is open and free. The data are presented in multidimensional tables, offering the possibility of customizing the tables changing variables, reference periods and position of heads and sides. The system is searchable by keyword, by theme and region, data can be exported in csv and xls format and saved. A wide range of metadata helps users in finding and understanding data.
