The building permits indicators measure the quarterly evolution in the number of dwellings used for residential purposes, square metres of residential useful floor area and square metres of non-residential area using the Classification of types of Construction (CC).
During the second half of 2015, the residential construction units decreased compared with the same period of the previous year (-14.5% in the number of dwellings and -12.3% in useful floor area). Instead non-residential buildings increased by 21.7% compared with the same period of 2014.
The number of dwellings in new buildings decreased by 10.4% in the third quarter and by 18.3% in the fourth quarter with respect to third and fourth quarter 2014.
The useful floor area declined as well: by 8.2% in the third quarter and by 16.2% in the fourth quarter compared with the same periods of 2014.
Non-residential area increased by 20.5% in the third quarter of 2015 and by 22.8% in the fourth quarter with respect to third and fourth quarter 2014.
