With regard to the consumer survey, the confidence climate index decreased in June 2016 from 112.5 to 110.2. All the components decreased: economic from 135.7 to 131.8, personal from 105.4 to 103.0, current from 109.8 to 108.2, future from 117.6 to 112.9. The balance concerning expectations on unemployment increased from 26 to 32 over the past month. The balance on inflation perceptions referring to the last 12 months rose from -27 to -26 and the balance on inflation expectations for the next 12 months remained stable at -20.
With regard to the business surveys, the composite business confidence climate index (IESI, Istat Economic Sentiment Indicator) decreased from 103.0 to 101.2 in June.
The confidence index in manufacturing rose from 102.1 to 102.8. Assessments on order books improved (from -15 to -13) while production expectations and inventories remained stable (at 9 and 3, respectively).
The confidence index in construction rose from 120.4 to 121.6. Assessments on order books and construction plans improved (from -34 to -30) and employment expectations worsened (from -7 to -9).
The market services confidence index fell from 107.3 to 105.0. The index decreased in Transportation and storage (from 121.7 to 115.8), in Tourism services (from 98.0 to 97.2), in Information and communication (from 106.6 to 105.1) and in Business services and Other services (from 105.9 to 102.5).
The retail trade confidence index fell from 101.0 to 99.7. The index increased in small and medium scale distribution (from 104.2 to 106.7) while decreased in the large scale distribution (from 99.7 to 96.9).
