The building permits indicators measure the quarterly evolution in the number of dwellings used for residential purposes, square metres of residential useful floor area and square metres of non-residential area using the Classification of types of Construction (CC).
During the first half of 2015, the residential construction units decreased compared with the same period of the previous year (-10.7% in the number of dwellings and -13.8% in useful floor area). Instead non-residential buildings increased by 6.9% compared with the same period of 2014.
The number of dwellings in new buildings decreased by 0.3% in the first quarter and by 18.9% in the second quarter with respect to first and second quarter 2014.
The useful floor area declined as well: by 6.1% in the first quarter and by 20.1% in the second quarter compared with the same periods of 2014.
Non-residential area decreased by 1.9% in the first quarter of 2015 and it increased by 15.1% in the second quarter with respect to the first and second quarter of 2014.
