Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in September 2015. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in September 2015 will be disseminated on coming 17 November.

In September 2015, exports to non-EU countries decreased by 2.2% and imports decreased by 1.6% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a surplus of 1,429 million euro compared with a 1,533 million euro surplus in the same month of 2014.

In September 2015, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports increased by 5.2% and imports increased by 1.5% compared with August 2015. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 4.2% decrease in outgoing flows and a 5.4% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.

In the period January-September 2015 exports to non-EU countries increased by 4.7% and imports increased by 0.4% compared with the same period of 2014. The trade balance registered a surplus of 21,704 million euro compared to the surplus of 16,056 million euro in the same period of 2014. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 44,964 million euro (Table 3) compared with a 47,013 million euro surplus in January-September 2014.
