The building permits indicators measure the quarterly evolution in the number of dwellings used for residential purposes, square metres of residential useful floor area and square metres of non-residential area using the Classification of types of Construction (CC).
During the first half of 2014, the residential construction units decreased compared with the same period of the previous year (-11.4% in the number of dwellings and -9.1% in useful floor area). Non-residential buildings declined by 10.8% compared with the same period of 2013.
The number of dwellings in new buildings decreased by 20.6% in the first quarter and by 2.3% in the second quarter with respect to first and second quarter 2013.
The useful floor area declined as well: by 17.1% in the first quarter and by 1.4% in the second quarter compared with the same periods of 2013.
