Turnover in services

The Services Turnover Index measures the quarterly change recorded in sales at current prices by enterprises belonging to the domain of services. Starting from the first quarter of 2013 the indices are calculated with reference to the base year 2010 using the Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of Nace Rev. 2).

In the second quarter of 2014 the Services Turnover Index decreases by 0.7%. In particular, the index increased by 0.8% for Transport, Warehousing and support activities, by 0.5% for Accommodation and food service activities. Decreases are recorded for Information and communication (-3.9%), Professional, scientific and technical activities (-2.3%), for the Administrative and support service activities (-1.2%) and for Wholesale trade, trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (-0.4%).

In the second quarter of 2014 the seasonally adjusted index increased for Maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (+0.6%) and for Postal and courier activities (+0.4%). A decrease is recorded in all the other sectors: Air transport (-3.2%), Information and communication services (-1.7%), Wholesale trade (-1.3%) and Water transport (-1.1%).
