Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in November 2013. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in November 2013 will be disseminated on coming 16 January.
In November 2013, exports to non-EU countries decreased by 6.7% and imports decreased by 12.3% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a surplus of 2,380 million euro (Table 1) compared with a 1,726 million euro surplus in the same month of 2012.
In November 2013, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports decreased by 5.1% and imports decreased by 3.9% compared with October 2013. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 0.6% decrease in outgoing flows and a 2.6% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
In the period January-November 2013 exports to non-EU countries increased by 1.2% and imports decreased by 10.3% compared with the same period of 2012. The trade balance registered a surplus of 16,586 million euro compared to the deficit of 2,339 million euro in the same period of 2012. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 62,837 million euro (Table 3) compared with a 55,772 million euro surplus in January-November 2012.
